Famous French actor Alain Delon emphasized the need to make every effort to free the Moroccans sequestered in Tindouf camps in south-western Algeria.



In a press statement on Saturday in Marrakech, the living legend and myth of world cinema stressed the need to help Moroccans, "prisoners of Algerians in Tindouf" to regain their freedom and return to the Motherland.

In this context, he said he tried two days ago in Brussels to join the Peace Caravan Supporting Autonomy Plan in the Sahara, but could not at the last minute due to health problems at the airport in the capital of Europe.

He added that his wish was " to join the caravan in Marrakech and go with it" to Lagouira.

Alain Delon also welcomed the initiative of the Caravan, consisting of 350 Diaspora Moroccans which include participants from throughout Europe, including France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

"I would have liked to meet people in the Caravan," said the famous French actor for whom this initiative is of great importance since it has helped hundreds of people to come and defend the cause of the Sahara which is "crucial in the minds of all Moroccans."

Alain Delon, said he has "great admiration and great respect for King Mohammed VI.
