In an article entitled " Polisario’s Black Book in Tindouf camps" reported  by +Almounaataf + daily, Anwar Malek addresses the serious violations of human rights committed by Polisario, since the data revealed by the report by Human Rights Watch.

The reasons for concern regarding the situation of human rights in the region are, according to the report by Human Rights Watch, the absence of regular monitoring of the situation, writes Anouar Malek in this article published on Marayapress website.

"The field of human rights is continually being violated in Tindouf, even if Polisario said to be open to foreign control and that there are foreigners within the humanitarian and development organizations," said the author.

Algeria is responsible for this situation given that the Polisario Front can not be held responsible under international law, protection of individual rights, even though it executes policies and decisions that negatively affect human rights of the population in the Tindouf camps, he said.

The Algerian intellectual held Polisario responsible for its behavior toward persons subject to its administration, since it administers the courts and prisons to control borders and camps in Tindouf as Polisario is the only authority with which population talks permanently.

Citing a report by Human Rights Watch, the author of the article emphasizes that the Polisario, in addition to its widespread abuse, "adopts a speech marginalizing those who question its leadership or are against it on fundamental issues ".

According to the report, there is no opposition nor anyone daring to protest, let alone the media and organizations of real importance to criticize publicly the legitimacy of the Polisario, or lobby for the acceptance of Moroccan proposal for autonomy in the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty, "said Anwar Malek.

He added that despite the presence of the Association of Families of Sahrawi Prisoners and Disappeared, the only NGO working in the camps, its impact remains weak and has no control over abuses in the camps ".

The absence of opposition within the camps is due to the policy adopted by Polisario leadership of kidnapping, a policy based on the creation of structures of groups and associations supporting its thesis, "said Malek.  

Regarding freedom of movement inside the camps, the author mentions the violation of this right by Polisario that accuses as "traitor" anyone preferring a return to his country, Morocco. He said that the majority of those who left the camps did it in total secrecy to deceive the vigilance of their torturers.

Regarding the issue of slavery, the Algerian intellectual said the report by Human Rights Watch called on the Polisario to break with "practices of slavery" in the camps.
 
One of the main manifestations of slavery," says Malek, citing testimony from some people to the Human Rights Watch, is the rejection of" local judges "to allow women to have the necessary documents to perform marriage without the permission of their owner or guardian.

The Algerian intellectual described as "very serious" what is happening in the Tindouf camps in terms of dysfunction, poverty and violations of rights, which are, he warned, a sign of disasters that the region can no longer bear.

It drew attention to the existence of other "dangerous acts" that have been obscured to delegates of the said organization, including crimes of torture as those perpetrated against Sahrawis opposed to Polisario and against the Moroccan prisoners in the camps jails under the authority of the country that shelters them. 

These acts constitute, according to him,  violation of local laws and all international and universal principles of human rights, especially since they are not subject to criminal prosecution, trial or charge.

Concerning the phenomenon of deportation of children, Mr. Anwar Malek revealed, citing some sources, that 6,000 children were deported to Cuba.

On the other hand, Anwar Malek put the light on other phenomena common in the camps, such as bribery, trafficking, theft and abuse of authority for unlawful enrichment, stressing the involvement of Polisario's leaders in business traffic, diversion of humanitarian aid to unknown destinations, hence the emergence of a bourgeois class. This, says the author, led to the deterioration of social and humanitarian situation in the camps and the spreading of deadly diseases, hunger, child mortality as well as the shortage of medicines which are stolen and sold on the black market.

According to the Algerian intellectual, this deplorable situation encourages people to choose terrorism and religious extremism and become a breeding ground for the Organization of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
