A Coordination of Andalusian Moroccans to defend the national cause was created Wednesday at Seville (southern Spain), according to its promoters.

The announcement was made during a meeting organized by the Hispano-Sahrawi Association "Hiwar" in collaboration with the League of Human Rights Defenders in the Sahara "on the process carried out in Morocco with regard to strengthening local development and consolidation of human rights, particularly in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, as well as the socio-economic growth experienced by these provinces.

During this meeting, emphasis was placed on the progress made in Morocco in the consecration of human rights, particularly in the southern provinces, contrary to allegations circulated by the enemies of the Kingdom’s integrity, said the president of "Hiwar" Association, Abderrahim Berdiji in a statement to MAP.

The meeting was also an occasion to denounce the exploitation of the issue of human rights by the enemies of the integrity of Morocco to undermine the achievements and other accomplishments of the Kingdom  in promoting and defending these rights," he said.

He added in this context that systematic violations of human rights in the Tindouf camps, as well as the blockade imposed by Polisario on sequestered Sahrawis, were also reported during this meeting.

This meeting, which was marked by a strong participation of representatives of civil society associations in Seville and Moroccan students in the Andalusian capital, stressed the merits of the Moroccan Autonomy proposal as a wise solution to the final settlement of the Sahara issue.

It was attended by the consul of Morocco in Seville, Said Douelkakar, president of the League for the Defence of Human Rights in the Sahara and member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Baba Ahl Mayara, Secretary General of Sakia Al Hamra Forum-Oued Eddahab for Democracy and Development and CORCAS member, Taoufik Berdiji.

Organisers said a similar meeting will be held next week in Almeria (southern Spain).
