In a recent letter by its Chairman, Mr. Salvino Caputo to the General Consulate of Morocco in Palermo, the Sicilian deputies stressed that "this initiative is part of the consolidation of the role of institutions in the Kingdom of Morocco ". 

Sicilian MPs also consider that this initiative will be "an opportunity to make a lasting political solution to Sahara conflict through negotiation of an autonomy statute."

They seized the opportunity to express their "willingness to provide their cooperation to the initiatives of the Advisory Committee on Regionalization".

The President of the Provincial Council of the city of Trapani, in Sicily, also welcomed the establishment of the ACR, saying it is a "positive pioneering action confirming the modern structure of the Moroccan state and its dynamic society ".

The Sicilian head also expressed his satisfaction over the decision to  "make Moroccan Sahara the first region of the Kingdom to benefit from advanced Regionalization," describing it as a “great goal”.
