The population of these camps is in a critical situation. It is deprived of the rights guaranteed by the International Law to this category which should enjoy the same rights as the citizens of the host country, said Limon in an interview published on Wednesday by French-speaking daily "Aujourd'hui le Maroc."

    "These are not refugees but rather sequestered," she said.

      The USCRI members who visited these camps in 2008 drafted a report on the critical state which prevails there as people don’t enjoy their full rights.

    During my stay in Laayoune, Limon said, "I have noticed that things go normal, people go about their life as usual  and  the city is reachable thanks to the means of road and air transportation. "It is easy for anyone to come here and stay as long as they wish."

      The American Committee for Refugees and Immigrants was created in 1911 with the aim to help this social group and defend their rights.

    "Our mission focuses on the human side of political conflicts by facilitating life conditions of these people," she explained, noting that the USCRI works to promote the full participation of migrants in the community’' life.

    The Committee works with the U.S. Congress and establishes an annual report on the respect of the rights of these people at the international level.
