The adoption took place at the WVF’s 26th general assembly, which was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, between October 19-23.
The resolution, among 11 others presented by the Moroccan delegation, was heatly discussed and caused a debate with the Algerian delegate who vainly requested the withdrawal of the Moroccan draft resolution, the Commission said in a statement.
The Moroccan delegation, supported by representatives of many countries, "has also succeeded in getting the WVF’s general assembly to condemn the situation undergone by the populations detained in Tindouf (southwest of Algeria)," it said.
The statement added that the federation adopted, despite objections by Israel’s delegate, two resolutions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one presented by Singapore and the other presented jointly by the Moroccan and French delegations.
The assembly brought together 89 institutions and associations from 50 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and Australia, who discussed a host of issues of shared interest.
