The delegation of the Consultative Council of Human Rights (CCHR), led by its president Ahmed Herzenni was received Tuesday in Bogota, by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Clemencia Forero Ucros.



Mr.Herzenni, who was accompanied by Mustapha Iznasni and Mohamed Soual, members of CCHR, and the Ambassador of Morocco in Bogota, Noureddine Khalifa addressed the question of the southern provinces and the efforts made by the Kingdom to complete its territorial integrity, the plight of populations sequestered in Tindouf camps and the Moroccan autonomy proposal for the provinces, which enjoyed wide international support.

During the meeting, which took place in the presence of the Director of African Affairs, Ms Olga Bula, the Colombian official welcomed the interest granted by Morocco to strengthen cooperation with Colombia in various fields, highlighting the excellent relations between the two countries and their mutual support in international fora. 

The president of CCHR, Ahmed Herzenni, said that Morocco is following with interest the peace process initiated in Colombia and the initiatives taken by the government to establish civil peace, noting that each country must find ways to its own political and historical context to ensure national unity and strengthen democratic practices.

In addition, CCHR President discussed the efforts made in Morocco in order to uncover the truth about past gross violations of human rights, individual and collective compensation of victims and recommendations relating to legal and institutional reform to enhance the rule of law.


The President of the Advisory Council for Human Rights addressed the question of the Sahara during his meeting with members of human rights Committees at both Parliament Houses of Colombia.

The President of the Colombian National Committee for Human Rights Violations Redress and Reconciliation, expressed for his part, his respect and inspiration by the works of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER), as the Moroccan experience is regarded as one of the most successful in the field of transitional justice.

The Colombian head called for further fruitful exchange of information with Morocco to enrich the experiences specific to each country, indicating that he will soon pay a visit to the Kingdom.
