Major Event

The spokesman for the Association of Sahrawi tribes in Europe, and member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Lahcen Mahraoui, strongly condemned the visit of some people to the Lahmada camps in Tindouf.

He qualified this act of "treason" against their families and their tribes, which are related to the Alawite Throne by sacred allegiance and always "available" to protect both the territorial integrity and national unity .

"This visit, which has no effect, was conducted by individuals who have unfortunately chosen the path to fame by meanness and treachery," said Mahraoui, contacted Wednesday from Paris by the "Al-Oula" TV channel during its evening program.

He added that these individuals are exploited and manipulated by a system run for 35 years already.

"These individuals, who call themselves defenders of human rights, have benefited from the openness of Morocco and its deliberate choice to move forward in the promotion of human rights to decry it around and mark the pinnacle of their actions by going to Tindouf where human rights are violated, "he said.

He said in this sense that they were received "as heroes" by those who violate human rights on a territory where people are kidnapped for 35 years, children are deported, civilians suffer all atrocities and where aid is sold in all markets nearby.

The visit, conducted by servile individuals who usurp human rights, part of the propaganda of the Polisario and Algeria, "said Mr. Mahraoui, adding that the Polisario, contrary to what it claims, wants to eternalize the Sahara conflict through such practices.

The Moroccan autonomy initiative, which has given political, economic and social scope, aims to achieve a "win-win" solution where all the Maghreb people can gather, he also said.

"It's a way to turn the page once and for all and ensure that this matter be closed in a definitive manner," stated spokesman of the Association of Sahrawi tribes in Europe.

The Moroccan autonomy proposal, widely hailed by the international community, "is the only project that can end this problem," said Mr. Mahraoui.

Sheikhs of Sahrawi tribes denounce the visit of some people in the camps of Tindouf

The sheikhs of Sahrawi tribes have expressed their strong condemnation of the visit of some people in the Tindouf camps, calling it "offence of the feelings of Sahrawis and violation of freedom they enjoy under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

In statements to the press, sheikhs have expressed their outrage by the use of “separatists of the climate of freedom and human rights in Morocco to serve purposes contrary to the sacred values of the Kingdom".

They have also blamed these "reprehensible" actions that prove the hatred felt by the enemies of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom to Morocco, making Polisario and Algeria responsible for the consequences of such egregious acts.

They also found that family visits between the southern provinces and the camps of Tindouf, driven by the United Nations and initiated as part of confidence-building measures, are "able to satisfy the ambitions of beneficiaries with a view to reaching a solution to this conflict ".

The Sahrawi tribal sheikhs have even rejected the claims of these people wanting to set themselves as spokesmen for Sahrawis represent the Sahrawi tribes or speak on their behalf.

These practices and provocations "do not diminish our commitment to national unity and to the glorious Alawite Throne" they insisted, emphasizing the importance of advocacy for the preservation of gains made by the Morocco in various fields, particularly in respect of human rights and the consecration of democracy.

They finally called for action to address the maneuvers of those individuals who have no relation with human rights or the rights of Sahrawis.

Elected officials and sheikhs of Sahrawi tribes and members of Corcas in Smara condemned on Wednesday the visit of some people in the camps of Tindouf.

In a statement a copy of which was received at the MAP, they have vigorously denounced the acts and practices of Polisario leaders which is manipulating and exploiting these individuals to convey their separatist ideas to undermine stability and security enjoyed by the southern provinces of the Kingdom.

They have in this regard expressed their categorical rejection of such acts which constitute an affront to the feelings of the Moroccan people in general and the inhabitants of the southern provinces in particular and are contradictory with the resolutions of the Security Council and General Assembly of the United Nations on the Sahara issue.

They further expressed their disapproval of the conduct of this band of separatists who are manipulated and exploited to undermine the territorial integrity and question the commitment of Sahrawi tribes to the unity of the Kingdom and Glorious Alawi throne under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

They also denounced attempts to "some relays involved for the account of Polisario” in the southern provinces to destabilize public order and harm the national unanimity about the territorial unity of the Kingdom through the manipulation of young children to serve Polisario theses, in flagrant violation of all the values of citizenship.

They have at the same time denounced the exploitation of these individuals of the climate of freedom and democracy prevailing in Morocco.

Having called for the mobilization of all to deal with failed attempts of these individuals working to sow discord; they reaffirmed their commitment to the glorious Alawite Throne and support the initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to build a democratic and modern society.

They finally expressed satisfaction over the sovereign’s care given to people of the southern provinces.

Political parties have unanimously condemned the visit. Some communiqués of these parties:

Istiqlal Party: The visit of some people in the camps of Tindouf, "a provocation" to the feelings of Moroccans

The visit by some people in the camps of Tindouf is a provocation to the feelings of the Moroccan people, a deflection detrimental to national unity and betrayal of the Nation’s constant, said Tuesday the Istiqlal Party (PI) .

This visit is a desperate reaction against the option of return, on the one hand, and an attempt to minimize the great success achieved by the Moroccan initiative to grant broad autonomy to the provinces south, "said Saad Alami, member of the Executive Committee of the PI in a statement to MAP.

The Moroccan initiative enjoys strong support at national level and has been widely welcomed abroad, "he added.

Mr. Alami said that these individuals represent themselves and cannot in any way speak for the Moroccan people, stressing that their actions can only be condemned and denounced by the entire Moroccan people committed to territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The action taken by these individuals is a betrayal to the country and must be punished in accordance with applicable laws.

The President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Mr. Mustapha Mansouri said that the visit by some people in Lahmada camps is an insult not only to the feelings of people in southern provinces, but to all Moroccans.

In a statement to MAP, Mr Mansouri said that this desperate attempt to undermine national unanimity about the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, aims to alter the success made by the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which enjoys a large support within and outside the country.

"The unannounced visit aimed to achieve ulterior motives, which do not affect the unity of the Sahrawi population nor their attachment to their motherland, and will serve no separatist goals," he said.

Popular Movement: law enforcement against individuals who visited Lahmada camps

Mr. Mohand Laenser, secretary general of the Popular Movement (MP) strongly denounced the visit by individuals in Lahmada camps in Tindouf, treating them as "traitors".

Laenser called in a statement to MAP, the application of the law against these individuals who are opponents of the Kingdom's territorial integrity and improperly exploit the climate of freedom and democratic openness.

"These individuals who visit the camps of shame with Moroccan identity documents show treason" Laenser said, adding that enforcement against them does not constitute an infringement of freedom and individual rights.

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) condemned Tuesday's visit by individuals in Lahmada camps in Tindouf.

In a statement to MAP, the deputy Secretary General of the PJD, Mr. Lahcen Daoudi said that the visit " in no way serves the interests of our brothers sequestered in Tindouf camps.

Those who exploit the suffering of others, he added, "are not aware of the ordeal endured by their brothers in the camps of shame, since they live in prosperity in Laayoune, Smara and other southern cities of the kingdom. "

Authenticity and Modernity Party: desperate reaction to the success of the return movement to the motherland and autonomy proposal

Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) condemned the visit by some people in the Tindouf camps, calling it "treason", "break of national unity" and "prejudice against the feelings of all Moroccans.

The party's national office said in a statement issued after a meeting Monday that "this visit to Lahmada camps in Tindouf by individuals originating in majority of areas not affected by the conflict in our southern provinces, is an attempt to undermine the Moroccan proposal for greater autonomy in the Sahara region.

The visit, said the PAM is "a desperate reaction to the increasingly success of the strong return movement to the motherland and an attempt to undermine autonomy proposal, described as credible and serious by the Security Council and international public opinion. "

The national office of the PAM called on various political actors and national public opinion "to assume their historic responsibility in this critical juncture about the national cause."

Socialist Union of Popular Forces: This act shall give rise to an appropriate and firm response

Ahmed Zaidi,  member of the Political Bureau of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, said Wednesday at the TV news that the visit by some individuals to the camps of Tindouf, violates the sacred principles of the nation and at their top, territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The head of the USFP said: "I think it is time for each party to assume its responsibility. The sacred cause of the Nation headed by the territorial integrity, are not objects of debate.

"This is harmful to the feelings of Moroccans. This is the choice of the opponents and enemies of the territorial integrity".

Party of Progress and Socialism: The visit of some people in the camps of Tindouf, breach of national duty

The visit undertaken by some individuals in the camps of Tindouf, is treason and dereliction of national duty that must be punished by the laws in force, said Tuesday Ismail Alaoui, secretary general of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS).

"They are traitors and national laws must be enforced against them," said Mr. Alawi in a statement to MAP.

According to the PPS Secretary General, "this approach, which is part of the campaign against the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, can only be condemned because it is clearly anti-Moroccan.

These people are not even involved in the project of autonomy making every effort, through failed attempts, on an initiative called "serious" and "credible" by the entire international community and thereby their approach is "a flagrant breach of national duty," he said.

Democratic Forces Front: This will not affect attachment of the Saharawi people to their Moroccanity

The Democratic Forces Front (FFD) strongly denounced the visit by some people in Lahmada camps in Tindouf, stressing that this is a "treason".

In this context, the party's national secretary, Mr Thami Khyari said in a statement to MAP, "This visit can only be condemned, especially since some of these people are from non-Sahrawi tribes.

Expressing his astonishment about "the absence of patriotic spirit among those individuals who had previously received money to attend conferences in Algeria," Mr Khyari stressed the need to punish such acts in accordance with the laws in force.

This will not harm the attachment of the Saharawi people to their Moroccan unity, he said, noting that it would be wrong to think that this act can affect the determination of Morocco to find a political solution to Sahara issue in the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.

Constitutional Union: The visit of some people in the camps of Tindouf, a violation of the constants of the Nation

The visit by some people in the camps in Lahmada Tindouf is an affront to the constants of the nation and an insult to the feelings of all Moroccans, said the Secretary General of the Constitutional Union (UC), Mr. Mohamed Abied.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Abied said that they "have excluded themselves from the national unanimity around the Moroccan Sahara issue.

For the secretary general of the UC, these people are traitors who have profited inappropriately from the climate of freedom that prevails in the country.

These people only represent themselves and can never be the spokesperson of the Moroccan people and the inhabitants of the southern provinces are an integral part of the country, "he said.
