Canary Islands-based "Islas Airways" will start operating on Wednesday flights between Las Palmas and the Moroccan city of Laayoune, the company announced Tuesday. 



The flights to Laayoune will be provided every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, says the source, noting that the inauguration of this line falls within "the framework of strategic international development" of the company started by Morocco.

"This international initiative to our neighbor Morocco and specifically the city of Laayoune, was born six years after the commencement of the company," adds the source. "Islas Airways operates regular flights between the islands of Grand Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

The opening of this new line, outside the territory of the Canary Islands and the European Union, has "made possible by the Alliance agreed with our local partner, Mr. Eisa Bin Nasser, and “Arremal Travels” Agency, the statement said.

Gran Canaria Laayoune line will last for 40 minutes with a frequency of three flights per week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).

The price of return ticket on one ATR 72-500 aircraft, 70 seats will be 165 euros.

"With this connection, we want to promote rapprochement between the two regions, strengthening the economic, social and cultural cooperation between the Canary Islands and the city of Laayoune," says the airline company.

"Islas Airways expresss its "gratitude to the Consul General of Morocco to the Canary Islands, Abderrahman Leibek, the Moroccan authorities, local authorities in Laayoune and the government of the Canary Islands, for their cooperation " for the start of this airline with Morocco.
