Exploitation of human rights in the Sahara, reaction to the positive reception of autonomy (minister)

Interior Minister, Chakib Benmoussa said separatists' instrumentalization of human rights in Sahara is a mere reaction to the international community's endorsement of Morocco's initiative to grant a substantial autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara.

These acts are "deliberate provocations by separatists' supporters who break the law and aim to politicize the process of common trials in order to draw international sympathy," Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson, Kalid Naciri quoted Benmoussa on Wednesday during a press briefing following the government's cabinet meeting.

These maneuvers will not prevent "Morocco from continuing to seek a political and consensual solution and a strategy to build a democratic society by consolidating the domestic front in the southern provinces," Benmoussa said.
