"I came here to reaffirm Peru’s firm position to defend Morocco's territorial integrity. It is a solid position, not only of Peru, but also of the whole world," Luis Javier Gonzales Posada Eyzaguirre told MAP at the end of a meeting with Morocco’s Foreign minister, Taib Fassi Fihri.
Posada Eyzaguirre, former speaker of Peru’s congress, said what is at stake is "upholding national rights which we are all required to defend."
On Morocco's autonomy project for the Sahara, the Peruvian official said H.M. King Mohammed VI has made a step forward through this initiative, adding that this proposal, which has been praised by the UN Security Council and the entire international community, "should be implemented as soon as possible.”
He also voiced gratitude to Morocco for its support following the tremor which rocked his country two years ago.
Posada Eyzaguirre, who participated in a symposium on "Arab, African, Iberian and Latin-American cooperation: governments and civil society", held on August 1-3 in Assilah (north), said he admires the economic development achieved by the North African country.
