This exchange concerned 64 beneficiaries belonging to 13 families, said a press release from the Moroccan Coordination Office with MINURSO.
Seven families totaling 32 people from the province of Laâyoune boarded, 6.30 am Friday aboard a UN aircraft at the airport in Laâyoune to Tindouf (Camp-Smara) and six families totaling 32 people from the same camp, took the same aircraft at 11.15.
According the same source, this exchange took place for the Moroccan side in good conditions and all measures have been taken to ensure a warm welcome to participants and facilitate the use of formalities at the airport of embarkation and disembarkation.
Through this exchange, the total number of people receiving family visits, since 5 March 2004, amounted to 8722, including 4481 people from the camps in Tindouf and 4241 people from the southern provinces.
The Moroccan Coordination Office reiterates its appreciation for the continued operation and calls on UNHCR to strictly enforce the provisions of the action plan and make the other party refrain from any act likely to harm the humanitarian nature of this program, including splitting families from the Tindouf camps, the release concludes.
