A Sahara NGO decried the instrumentalisation of human rights issue to serve the propagandist thesis of the Algeria-backed Polisario.

The "Association des portés disparus au Polisario - APDP"  (Association of the missing in the Polisario camps) warned that some people, pretending to be human rights' activists, have recently visited Algeria with the purpose to spread false allegations on supposedly human rights breaches in the Moroccan southern provinces.

The NGO noted that these individuals "should have asked this country to arrest Polisario leaders responsible for crimes of torture and to shed light on the human rights violations perpetrated by Algerian security agents and Polisario against the Sahrawis on Algerian soil as well as on  the fate of over 800 people held in Polisario’s jails".

The Sahara NGO also hailed the 2009 annual report of Amnesty International, which asks Algeria to bring Polisario leaders, responsible for crimes of torture, before a court either in Algeria or in a neutral country.
