The head of the Spanish diplomacy reiterated during talks with the UN general secretary’s personnel envoy to the Sahara Mr Christopher Ross his county’s support to a just , lasting and acceptable political solution by parties concerned, within the framework of the UN security council resolutions, indicated the Spanish foreign affairs ministry
Mr Moratinos equally expressed his country’s support to the mission of the personnel envoy of the UN general secretary to the Sahara, expressing his happiness to the active role played by Mr Ross since his appointment, last January
The same source mentioned that Mr Ross informed the head of the Spanish diplomacy about talks he had during his tour in the region, with the aim to restart the process of negotiations in Manhasset, launched in June 2007
In this occasion the two officials have agreed on the importance of the stability and the socio-economic development of the Maghreb area.
It is the second meeting between Ross and Moratinos, the first meeting took place in New York during the month of September 2008, and indicated the statement.
Mr Ross who arrived Tuesday afternoon to Madrid, as part of a tour in the region , visited beforehand Algiers , Tindouf , Nouakchott , and Rabat
