This came in a meeting between Moroccan prime minister, Abbas El Fassi, and visiting Vice-President of the Canary Islands government, and Economy and Finance Minister, José Manuel Soria.

Manuel Soria highlighted promising prospects for cooperation in the areas of tourism, environment, sea water desalination, agriculture and    vocational training.

During this meeting, El Fassi raised developments in Morocco's territorial integrity, recalling the international community's support for the kingdom’s initiative to negotiate an autonomy statute for the Sahara region, a press release of the prime minister's office said.

The two parties underlined the “positive evolution” in the position of Spain in general and the Canary Islands in particular, with regard to the kingdom’s territorial integrity.
