President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs said on Friday 22 December 2006 that the new housing program for the southern regions of the Kingdom which will be submitted to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is a comprehensive and integrated development program that will afford parcels of land to population of these regions.



Mr Khalihenna Ould Errachid said in a statement at the conclusion of the works the second regular session held on 21 and 22 this December that this "program is oriented to all segments of society that have not yet benefited from housing with the necessary assistance from the provision of free pieces of land to granting free loans" .

He added "we have found the means to solve this problem. It is an ambitious and wide program and will be launched next January." He explained that the program concerns the processing of more than 68 pieces of land to produce approximately 124 thousand housing units in the southern regions of the Kingdom and invests up to 5 .4 billion MAD.

He pointed out that this program is aimed at the elimination of all forms of inadequate housing in the southern regions and respond to the growing demand in the area of housing needs and future needs resulting from demographic growth.

On the other hand, Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid expressed satisfaction over the happy end of the mediation he carried out to settle some long social problems at Bfousboukraa (Boukraa Phosphate Company). He said that after a series of meetings and negotiations with all partners concerned, "we have reached an agreement beneficial to all parties. "

At the conclusion of works of the second regular session of the Royal Consultative Council for Saharan Affairs, the President of the Council submitted on his name and on behalf of all participants in this session, a message of loyalty and dedication to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
