A delegation from the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs led by its President Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid came to  Madrid on Friday to conduct a series of discussions with officials and political actors on the Sahara issue.


The Spanish capital Madrid is the second destination after France in the tour by a delegation from the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) to a number of European countries to explain the Moroccan initiative to grant autonomy to the Sahara region, as just and final solution to the Sahara conflict.

MAP agency learnt from a diplomatic source that the visit of the Council’s delegation, which will continue until next Tuesday, includes meetings with political officials, deputies, senators and civil society actors, as well as interviews with the press.

CORCAS delegation will meet with prominent political, trade union and civil society components in Spain, namely:

- Officials from the Spanish Popular Party
- Members of Ibn Rushd Committee
- The Moroccan community living in Spain
- Chairman of Real El Cano Institute
- Representatives of the Toledo International Center for Peace
- Mr. Emilio Kasenilo, President of the Foundation for International Relations and External Dialogue
- Mr. Javier Dos, Secretary in charge of international relations, at the Spanish labour union
- Committee in charge of foreign affairs
- Spokesman of various parliamentary groups
- Chairman of the Moroccan-Spanish Friendship Group
- Audio-visual and written media,

The visit comes just days after the submission by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan of report burying Baker Plan.
