Presenter: Mr. President, today was your appointment as President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, how the Council will deal with the management of regional affairs in the southern regions so that they can engage in development and democratic path effectively?

Khalihenna Ould Errachid: this is one of the core functions entrusted to the Council by His Majesty the King in the founding decree: dealing with the regions internal affairs. Of course, this concerns directly the inhabitants. His Majesty the King put the state administration in the Council’s service to correct all that can be corrected to improve the services offered to citizens in all areas; in terms of housing, economy, infrastructure and integration.

The Council will deal with these issues so no concerns will remain to the people in these regions. This is very important since the State allocates significant funds to this area. but that should appear on citizens, citizens must feel that there is change, and a situation is changing daily on their behalf with respect to their interests and ambitions.

These are the main functions of the Council and we will be dealing with them with the cooperation of different departments which will consultative members in the Council, ie Territories prefects, the Director of the Development Agency, all these bodies, the State in general and its institutions must solve the problems raised in the economic, and social fields so that citizens will feel that there is change, change in the housing situation, change in at work, change in all aspects of their daily lives.

Presenter: Mr. President, His Majesty the King noted that the Council is open to actors of civil society, and aims at integrating citizens in the Tindouf camps, what are the ways to achieve this at the Council?

Khalihenna Ould Errachid: First, the Council is open to civil society in terms of a number of members from civil society, and this is new in the Council, I mean, there are a number of civil society members who are in the Council.

Secondly, the basic functions of the Council is, of course, contributing to the solution of the problem of the Sahara, and contributing to the return of Tindouf camps population to the homeland by all means possible, at the head of these methods is to persuade the citizens in general, that the project of His Majesty the King is most appropriate solution to the aspirations of the Sahara people, and fits the aspirations of all Sahrawis in the Tindouf camps and outside with respect to the maintenance of their political, economic and social rights within a royal precise framework submitted by His Majesty the King personally in the city of Laayoune and directed to the people of this region with support of all the Moroccan people.

Then, of course, it is essential that our Council convinces by its serious projects and convinces all Sahrawis that autonomy is best suited to the artificial dispute over the Sahara, which is not a good substitute for separation because genuine Saharans cannot say that they are not Moroccans.

Presenter: Mr. President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, thank you very much for your presence with us.
