There has never been any Sahrawi entity independent from Morocco, which means that "referendum is just schism project," Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affaires (CORCAS) new head Khalihanna Ould Rachid, on Saturday told the Qatari satellite channel "Al Jazeera."

Ould Rachid, who was appointed CORCAS chairperson by king Mohammed VI in Laayoune (1250 km from Rabat), deemed that the separatists' position "contradicts reality," making clear that the "autonomy project is an alternative to the artificial schism project."

King Mohammed VI's speech to the nation shows that "Morocco has chosen the best path towards a consensual solution that serves, first of all, the interests of the region and the Sahrawis, who have always called for settling this conflict," he noted.

In a speech addressed Saturday to the nation from Laâyoune, the monarch announced the appointment of CORCAS members, in its new composition, to defend Morocco's territorial integrity and shed light on the Sahara issue and the developments and reforms launched in Morocco.
