Jordanian Paper Al dustour : Moroccan ambassador to Jordan, Mohammed Maoulainain, said that in an interview with "Al doustour" papaer published on Sunday, that the proposed self-rule in the Moroccan Sahara gives population the right to run their own affairs by themselves in the framework of respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Morocco.

Mr Maoulainain explained that the scenario developed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to reach final solution of the conflict in the Sahara passes through self-government, in response to the recommendations of the Security Council, which called on parties to submit proposals to overcome the deadlock.

He pointed out that Morocco will present soon its proposal to the Security Council to find a final and lasting solution to this issue and end the suffering of people in Tindouf camps that are prevented of returning to their homeland.

He added that in view of the positive repercussions that this proposal raised among powerful States in the international community, Morocco is very optimistic that its proposal is accepted, especially as Sahara inhabitants themselves, represented by the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs and all Moroccan political parties have contributed to the development of this proposal.

With regard to the obstacles that limit the march of progress of the Arab Maghreb Union, the Moroccan ambassador said that Algeria embraces on its territory a separatist movement, and backs it financially and diplomatically to counter the historical rights of Morocco and its territorial integrity and unity, adding that the leaders of this movement move with Algerian diplomatic passports.

Mr Maoulainian described Jordan Moroccan relations as "very distinctive" reminding that they are deeply rooted in history.

On the situation in the Palestinian territories, Mr Maoulainian confirmed that what happened during the last few days in Palestine is painful to all Moroccans, noting that Morocco, which at the time called for an end to factional fighting among Palestinians, welcomed the Mecca agreement and "looks forward that everyone is aware of its strategic dimensions."

Moroccan ambassador expressed hope that efforts of all Palestinian brothers will unite in order to reach a Palestinian state on all Palestinian soil with Jerusalem as its capital as part of the Arab and international resolutions.
