Two Sudanese newspapers said on Thursday, February 1, 2007 that the proposed autonomy for the southern provinces within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty "is comprehensive and realistic" "responds to the aspirations of the peoples of the region and meets the aspirations of the international community".



Al Hayat Assiyassiya newspaper said that "despite the systematic opposition by the enemies of the kingdom’s territorial unity (...) it is committed to providing substantive proposal on self-governance in response to the call by the Security Council, the United Nations and brotherly and friendly countries within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, in order to end the current impasse and move forward towards a final political solution to end this regional artificial conflict. The newspaper added that the autonomy proposal which falls within the framework of a series of political, economic and social reforms taking place in the kingdom, and which is also the best way to revive the Maghreb and strengthen regional security. It is in line with the democratic modernist society project initiated by His Majesty King Mohamed VI and unanimously endorsed by the Moroccan people”. 

For its part, Asharie Assiyassi newspaper said that the autonomy plan "is comprehensive realistic and integrated strategy to end this artificial conflict." The newspaper highlighted that the project "enjoys the support and understanding of many of the international actors who believe that this dispute inherited from the cold war had exhausted most of the time," saying that " a solution should be found to maintain the residents specificities and territorial unity of the Kingdom of Morocco".
