The minister said, in article published today, Monday, by Le Matin du Sahara and the Maghreb), "we support the efforts made in order to find a just and fair solution to the Sahara issue," saying that the settlement of this issue will make it possible to achieve a "lasting and stable peace in the region."
He pointed out that "the attitude of Singapore about issues of this kind, are based on two basic principles: First, it is preferable to reach a solution peacefully and through compromise.
Secondly, we insist on maintaining respect of international law, as well as international agreements and commitments. "
With regard to bilateral relations, Mr. Chok Tong explained that the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Singapore in April 2005, "made it possible to open a new page in our relations", reminding that the two countries who had committed themselves to cooperate in several fields, especially at the economic scientific research and cultural levels.
Regarding economic cooperation, the Minister announced that the two governments will sign non double taxation agreement, adding that he is currently negotiating another agreement on investments.
