In an article entitled "Algerian officials and Polisario open a year in 2018 by stinging defeat against Morocco", the publication points out that the Kingdom inaugurated this beginning of the year by inflicting "a stinging defeat on Algerian officials and Polisario who were looking to offer themselves thundering 2018.
"Moroccan officials alerted on January 5, 2018, the UN Secretariat and seized 15 members of the UN Security Council to inform them of the seriousness of the deployment by Polisario elements in Guerguerate the same day, and their threat to block passage, 08 January 2018, of Africa Eco Race Rally, requesting to assume their full responsibility by demanding departure on the Algerian territory", said the author.
UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, called on all his interlocutors to "firmly and promptly assume their responsibility by demanding immediate and unconditional departure of Polisario from the Guerguerate zone", according to the information portal which adds that "the communiqué of the UNSG was clear not to hinder, in any way, freedom of civil and commercial circulation.
This constitutes a firm and categorical rejection of Polisario provocations and its impediments to free movement in the buffer zone of Guerguerate ".
"Moreover, Antonio Guterres sent a direct and firm message to Polisario leaders stating that no action, which would change the status quo of the buffer zone, should be undertaken", adds "MaliWeb".
"The presence of Polisario mercenaries in Guerguerate is illegal because it violates the agreements in force and tends to change the status of the area. Hence the obligation of Polisario to withdraw immediately and unconditionally, in order to return to the status quo," the article continues.
"It emerges that the current gesturing by Polisario participates more in this spirit of terror than real desire to restart the process of dialogue to find a way out of the conflict, which everyone knows is in the hands of Algiers, considered to be a stakeholder in the conflict ", underlines the author, adding that" the timing, let us not forget, chosen by Polisario and its Algerian sponsors to launch these suicidal provocations is not insignificant .
It coincides with the inauguration of the new MINURSO leader, the Canadian Colin Stewart, appointed on December 29 in Laayoune ".
