How can we be refugees for 40 years without anyone knowing number and identity of these refugees? With Corcas action, the world has realized that Polisario’s claim to be the sole representative of Sahrawis is false

Lahcen Mahraoui, member of the Royal Advisory Council for Sahrawi Affairs, said that the international community has a duty to know "who lives in the camps (Tindouf)

They say they are refugees..However can they be without having a refugee card or rights relating thereto? ... How can they be refugees for forty years without number or their identity? According to which right do Algerian regime and Polisario still prohibit the High Commissioner from identifying Refugees, United Nations? ".

We also know that "this is happening in camps in the Algerian desert, in a remote area dominated by armed militia that exploits the misery of the people," founding member of the Association of Moroccan Sahrawi tribes in Europe, said in an interview with Al Mounataf.

Mr. Mahraoui believes that the law requires that "we identify the people in camps, lift the siege against them, so that everyone knows who among them is from the southern provinces of Morocco and want to go back that we know who among them is from Mali and wants to return to his country, that we know who among them is Algerian and Mauritanian and want to go home."

Mr. Mahraoui considers that "the Sahara issue is a regional and artificial problem in which the Algerian regime used the Polisario separatist movement to try to weaken the kingdom, exhaust its energies and thwart its territorial integrity and national unity.

The Algerian regime hosts separatist camp, supports them by providing weapons, granting passports to their leaders. It mobilized its diplomacy and diplomats to defend separatist thesis and devotes a large budget from the Algerian people. "

Regarding the degree of responsiveness of other States and international community in general, to the position of Morocco, Mr. Mahraoui believes that "in addition to its geostrategic position, Morocco has made important strides on the path of consolidating foundations of democracy and human rights. It now enjoys stability and security and plays a pioneering role in the region and internationally. "

According to Corcas member, a big country like the United States and other powers are satisfied and grateful to Morocco for its serious initiatives and participation in the realization of peace and security in the world, as well as its geostrategic role in the preservation and stability of North Africa and southern Europe. "

According to Lahcen Mahraoui, " this situation should be used to gain support from major powers to put pressure on the Algerian regime to turn away from its opposition to the cause of Morocco and Moroccans, and to invest seriously and in good faith, with Polisario in the implementation of the autonomy proposal. "

Explaining and promoting our national cause, Mr. Mahraoui believes that the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, which "consists of sheikhs and notables of tribes, elite youth, elected officials and representatives of civil society played an important role in the promotion of our national cause and confront lies by Algerian regime and Polisario leadership, "including falsification that  tries convince the international community that Polisario is the only representative of Sahrawis. "

In this context, Mr. Mahraoui believes that through Corcas action, "everyone knows with certainty that this claim is misleading since there are Sahrawi Unionists and that these constitute the overwhelming majority."

Unionist Sahrawis, through Corcas, played an important role in the design of the autonomy project presented by Morocco, as part of the political solution to turn the page of this regional artificial conflict.
