Senegal's position on the Sahara issue "has not changed" since the time of former President Leopold Sedar Senghor, said Senegalese President Macky Sall.

"Since the time of President Senghor and to this day, Senegal's position on the crisis (the Sahara) has undoubtedly never changed," said Macky Sall in an interview with London newspaper "Asharq Al Awsat ".

"This cannot be explained by the person of the President, but rather by the strong and solid relationships uniting Morocco and Senegal," said President Sall, letting know that he holds the same position on the Sahara issue.

Regarding the return of Morocco to the African Union, Mr. Sall stated that "we have always defended the position of Morocco.

From our point of view, the best strategy today is to bring Morocco to join its friends within the African Union to improve action," noting that this would facilitate the tasks of Morocco’s friends.
