The delegation is chaired by Carlos Ernesto Bustamante Donayre, President of the Support Group for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative and President of the Peru-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group. It is made up of representatives of various Peruvian political parties.
During the meeting, which was attended by CORCAS member Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, Khalihenna Ould Errachid discussed the latest developments in the Sahara issue with his hosts.
These included the evolution of international mobilization in favor of the project granting autonomy to the Moroccan Sahara region, the text of which was formulated by Saharawis represented by the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs and subsequently presented by the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in 2007, as a serious, credible and realistic initiative to break the stalemate on the Sahara issue until 2004.
In recent years, this initiative has received a veritable tidal wave of support from UN member countries.
It is therefore the only realistic basis for a solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
