The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid, met on Friday July 21, 2017 with the president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Brazilian Senate and former President of Brazil, Senator Fernando Collor de Mello, who is visiting Morocco at the head of a major delegation July 19 through 26.


Corcas chairman debated with Senator Fernando Collor de Mello the latest developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue at the level of the United Nations and African Union.


Khalihenna Ould Errachid highlighted the current relevance, wisdom and courage of Morocco's proposal for autonomy, which was fully drafted by Sahrawis through their representatives at the Council.


Senator De Mello, who was the first democratically elected President in Brazil after the collapse of the military regime in early 1990s, expressed his support for the UN efforts to find a solution to the Sahara.


He also said that his country aspires to bilateral cooperation with Morocco, which is strong and comprehensive in the framework of exemplary South-South cooperation in all fields.


The Moroccan-Brazilian relations experienced a new momentum after the visit made by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Brazil in 2004.


The meeting was attended by Mr Ahmed Mghizlat, Council Member.
