The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid received Friday, May 6, 2016, a group of Italian researchers, specialists of federalism and regionalism and minority rights from the Academy of German-Italian Studies in Merano, a city in the province of Bolzano, which is part of the autonomous region of Trentino Alto Adige.

The meeting, attended by Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, Secretary General and Mr. Ahmed Mghizlat, Corcas member, discussed the latest developments of the Sahara issue, and focused on advanced regionalization, being implemented in the Sahara region.

Corcas chairman briefed on the specifics that characterize the implementation of the Sahrawi regional model, which aims to allow the three provinces in the southern region of the kingdom to have power and important ways to manage their business in accordance with the process of democratic development contributing to the artificial conflict solution while achieving the overall economic, social, cultural and environmental development in favor of the inhabitants of these southern provinces.

Researchers have shown great interest about the experience of Moroccan regionalization in the Sahara region, partly because their visit aims at concluding an interregional cooperation agreement between the region of "Oued Ed-Dahab Dakhla "and " Trentino Alto Adige ", located in north-eastern Italy with majority of inhabitants are German.

Italian researchers seek to make a comparative study of Alto Adige autonomous region and extended regionalization in Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, in collaboration with the University Ibn Zohr in Agadir.

This study will be presented during the month of July at a seminar at the Academy of Merano.

The group of Italian researchers performed a study tour in Morocco, between May 3-8, 2016, as part of a program prepared by the Embassy of Morocco in Italy.
