Domestic Activities

The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, received this Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Rabat, HE Mr. Léon Kengo wa Dondo, speaker of the Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congolese senators accompanying him for a working visit to Morocco scheduled for this week.

During this interview, Khalihenna presented to the speaker of the Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo the different phases of the evolution of the Sahara conflict by highlighting the fights caused by solutions that led to the creation of states without foundations of survival as it is the case today in Southern Sudan. Indeed, the failure of the referendum on self-determination proves perfectly the non-viability of the separatist thesis. These have increased civil and terrorist movements on the African continent.

Khalihenna also stressed the importance of political solutions in the resolution of international and regional conflicts; and raised the initiative of broad autonomy for the Sahara region proposed by Morocco to the other parties as a self-determination solution proven in many developed countries.

Khalihenna invited the leaders of the Democratic Republic of Congo to support the efforts of African development and the fight against all forms of separatism supported by some brotherly countries serving their own interests at the expense of the African people.

HE Mr. Léon Kengo wa Dondo stressed for his part, the historical position of his country for the Moroccan Sahara.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of Corcas, Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin.
