The Chairman Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, met Monday in Rabat, a delegation of journalists representing a number of the most important countries of Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador) in the framework of an exploratory visit to the kingdom taking them to the Sahara.


After the presentation outlining the latest developments of the Sahara issue, Mr. Chairman answered all inquiries of the media delegation that addressed the various problems associated with the Sahara conflict, and in particular to resolve the dispute once and for all and the role of Algeria in the path of negotiations and human rights in the Sahara as well as the threats of terrorism and regional security in the Sahel region. 

Khalihenna focused in his responses to reporters' questions on autonomy, which is a compromise and realistic and serious solution backed by the international community. He referred in this context to the urgent need for the international community to put pressure on Algeria, which hinders all possibilities to reach a final solution, the whole region is exposed to the dangers of extremism and terrorism, illicit trade in arms, drugs and humans. 


Khalihenna stressed to the media professionals from Latin America the need to highlight the oldest human tragedy with the detention of thousands of Sahrawi population on the territory of Algeria under the control of armed movement and the denial of the most basic rights of refugees internationally recognized in total disregard of the repeated calls in the reports of the United Nations and Security Council resolutions on the Sahara issue of the to allow their rights. 

The meeting was attended by CORCAS Secretary General, Dr. Maouelainin Benkhalihenna Maouelainin, and Vice chairman Khadad Moussaoui.
