Khalihenna Ould Errachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, received Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Council’s headquarters, Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General to the Sahara, in the context of a new regional tour, looking for a new impetus to the negotiation process on the Sahara region.


During this interview, the chairman and his host reaffirmed the need to find a quick, realistic and final solution to reduce threats induced by maintaining the artificial conflict over the Sahara, in the troubled context that characterizes currently the Sahel region.

Christopher Ross began his tour in Rabat where he met with several officials of the legislative and executive branches, including the government Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Presidents of the two chambers of Parliament.

The Personal Envoy whose tour will last place from March 20 to April 3 in the Sahara region, Tindouf camps, Algeria and Mauritania is expected to present his conclusions to the Security Council April 22, 2013.

Khaddad El Moussaoui, Corcas Vice Chairman attended the meeting.
