The Secretary General of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Dr Maouelainin Ben Khalihanna Maoulainin, received Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Council’s headquetres, Thomas von Goetz, Managing Director for Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East at the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is on a working visit in Morocco.


Corcas Secretary General spoke with his host, about the latest developments in the Sahara issue, presenting him the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which is the most relevant, most just solution to end the artificial conflict over the Sahara region.

The meeting focused on the situation in the Maghreb and Sahel, and the interweaving of this complicated situation with the maintenance of the conflict over the Sahara, and the consequence of this on the region and the environment regionally and internationally.

The visit to Rabat of the German diplomat highlighted bilateral relations between Morocco and the political situation in the region.

Thomas von Goetz has had a long career in German diplomacy where he held many important positions since he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991.
