The Belgian parliamentarian Mr. Denis Ducarme told MAP news agency in the wake of his meeting with Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, chief of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, that the Committee aimed through the report to inform the EU institutions and Member States about all data so that " we can make sure that Sahrawis living in the camps benefit from aid. "



He pointed out that "despite the importance of aid destined for the Polisario ", it seems that Sahrawis do not benefit from the minimum of the aid, which poses a regulatory problem concerning control of European aid."

Mr. Ducarme highlighted that the Commission is preparing a report on conditions in the Tindouf camps, where it witnessed the continued existence of "numerous violations of human rights in Tindouf, stressing that it" unacceptable practices should not be financed, and Europeans should not be involved indirectly in the violation of Sahrawis rights. "
"We are keen as Europeans to assume our responsibilities towards this issue," explaining that "a number of European countries do not know reality of the situation in the region."

He said that the report will focus mainly on the human rights situation in Tindouf camps and the fate of humanitarian assistance received by the leaders of the "Polisario".

He highlighted that the Committee's work is an extension of the report of the European Center for research, Analysis and Strategic Consultancy in the field recently prepared on the situation in the Tindouf camps, explaining that the Committee felt many violations of human rights in Tindouf camps.

He pointed out in this connection that the direct cause of the Commission's work are demonstrations that too place last May 29 in Tindouf, which "knew human rights violations and imprisonment of persons without trial."
"It is important for us as Europeans, Belgians to have good knowledge of " Polisario ".
