The analysis of the performance of the regions of Morocco under the summary index of the Sustainable Development Goals (ISODD) reveals that the region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra comes at the top of the ranking, followed by Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab and Casablanca-Settat, said the Administration of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

The scores established on the basis of this index make it possible to note "the remarkable performances posted by the regions of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (1st and 2nd under the ISODD) which exceed those of the region of Casablanca-Settat (3rd), "said  DEPF in a study on" regional inequalities under  SDGs by 2030 ", published on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

"These performances reflect the extent of the development efforts made by the public authorities in favor of this integral part of the national territory, in particular as regards the fields of education, health, infrastructures as well as in the fight against poverty and the promotion of environmental sustainability," said the source.

On the other hand, notes the same source, the positioning of certain regions at the level of the ISODD has weakened, in this case Rabat-Salé-Kenitra which lost 2 places to be in 7th place and the Oriental which moved from 5th to 10th place respectively between 2004 and 2014.

ISODD involved a battery of 56 indicators to measure the progress of the regions with respect to the 11 sustainable development objectives, within the limit of information available according to the division into 12 regions. These indicators use the most recent data that has been aligned, as closely as possible, with the official UN indicators.

The approach adopted for the construction of this index is based on the scoring method which makes it possible to compare and classify the 12 regions of the Kingdom and to capture the convergence momentum of the Moroccan regions with respect to these objectives.
