Once again the rightfulness of the sacred issue of all Moroccans, strength of national unity and mobilization around the Moroccan Sahara have been successful, this time in Lisbon where Polisario and others have suffered a serious blow at a conference held on Monday at the Catholic University of the Portuguese capital.

The conference on the Sahara issue, organized by the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) of the university, was led by the Moroccan professor Mohamed Ahmed Gain, a teacher at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra and other professors and researchers from the university.

It was to be held in the presence of so-called representative of Polisario in France, who suffered repeated failures of the lost "cause" of the separatists, canceled his participation at the last minute.

Professor Gain reviewed on this occasion the main stages of the genesis of the artificial conflict around the Sahara, exposing the separatists' allegations on the situation in the southern provinces of the Kingdom and pointing to the role of Algeria. in this conflict.

He also highlighted the violations perpetrated against the populations sequestered in the Tindouf camps by Polisario and Algerian supporters, citing as examples hundreds of cases of enforced disappearances and misuse by the separatists of humanitarian aid for these populations, which has been repeatedly unveiled by international organizations.

Mr. Gain also highlighted the model of development of the southern provinces and  achievements made in these regions under the vision of integrated development of all regions of the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

He also welcomed the latest report of the UN Secretary-General who stressed Algeria's responsibility for the perpetuation of the conflict, calling on Algiers to make important contributions to the political process. .

The so-called representative of Polisario who canceled his participation in this conference could not of course rebalance truths by the Moroccan academic who delivered a straightforward argument on the history of the conflict, on the Algerian maneuvers diplomatically and by supporting, arming and financing Polisario with the aim of harming Morocco and creating an area of tension and instability in the region and thus hindering the building of a united Maghreb.

By canceling his participation, the so-called representative of Polisario has shown that he refuses  confrontation and contradictory opinion that exposes the great lie maintained by Algiers and his puppets.

"I would have liked Polisario representative to present to the Portuguese public their false allegations," said Professor Gain in a statement to MAP.

"This absence shows not only that the separatists' thesis is fragile but that they do not have the arguments to defend it," he explained.

He pointed out that Portuguese researchers and academics are interested in the Sahara issue, but need to be further informed about certain facts and truths, particularly with regard to the political and legal aspects of the issue, as well as the efforts made by Morocco for the development of its southern provinces.
