The Canario-Saraoui Forum (Focasa), a Spanish NGO based in the Canary Islands, denounced "immoral manipulation" by Polisario of children "for political purposes" during summer holidays with host families in Spain.
The children's holiday program of the Tindouf camps in Spain, whose objective is to allow them temporarily to flee the harsh conditions in the camps" has been gradually perverted for political purposes by Polisario leaders", warns Focasa in a statement.
As soon as they arrive, these children are mixed in several regions of the Iberian country with marches and demonstrations with signs and slogans with political connotation, making them believe that these are festive events, deplores the NGO Canary.
Focasa reports that "some foster families took children on 8 July to enjoy a fun-filled event in a park in Las Palmas, that turned out to be a political meeting of the Polisario Front".
In Seville, too, children from the Tindouf camps were placed at the head of a propaganda march in favor of separatists, the same source said.
Focasa criticizes this "obscene and immoral manipulation of children" by engaging them in acts they should be excluded from, calling it an "offense and flagrant violation of rights of minors".
The Forum also denounces the involvement of some Spanish host families in this totalitarian strategy by Polisario.
The so-called "peaceful holiday" program involves sending groups of children from Tindouf camps every year to countries where separatists have a number of sympathizers among the civil society that welcomes them.
It is up to Polisario instructors to ensure that these so-called holiday settlements are transformed into a genuine propaganda and fundraising campaign for the benefit of separatists.
