Speaking during an interactive debate of the Ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Venezuela, Hilale, the head of the Moroccan delegation, said the principle of sovereignty, enshrined by the founding fathers of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Declaration of Bandung, remains the basis of all bilateral and international relations. 

It is a principle that Morocco and Venezuela have in common with a firm determination to defend it by all means, he noted, adding that this principle was put on the same footing as that of the territorial integrity of countries in the Bandung Declaration. 

It is through this principle that Morocco has claimed and recovered its southern provinces after the northern region, the diplomat pointed out, noting that the Moroccan Sahara is not a question of decolonization, but an issue related to the completion of the county’s territorial integrity. 

Morocco, guided by the principle 8 of the Bandung Declaration related to the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, has engaged in a negotiation process to reach a political, final and mutually acceptable solution to this regional dispute, under the United Nations auspices and in accordance with Security Council resolutions, Hilale underlined. 

Morocco hopes that the Non-Aligned Movement Summit will adopt a strong declaration that reaffirms collective commitment of member countries to preserve the unity of the Movement, he concluded.
