Aggressive words towards Morocco by the Algerian Prime Minister on Sunday before the summit of the African Union, "are explained by despair and successive failures on the Sahara issue," said the academic and associative actor and member the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Lahcen Mahraoui.

Algeria has not been able to achieve its goal of attacking the Kingdom’s territorial integrity despite the colossal human and material resources mobilized for forty years, said Mr Mahraoui to MAP.

The Saharawi academician indicates that this objective is a priority for the diplomacy of Algeria, adding that Algiers is currently facing a serious crisis of governance, compounded by falling gas prices.

At the same time, he noted, "Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI is positioning itself increasingly as a stable regional, reliable and successful leader on which the international community can count."

About Sahara regional dispute, Mr. Mahraoui noted that the term "colonization of the Sahara" used by Sellal in his statement only exists in the imagination of Algerian leaders.

"This is a misnomer because the United Nations in charge of this file and which is working towards a final political, just, and lasting solution mutually acceptable never used that term in the reports of its various general Secretaries or in different resolutions of the Security Council, "he explained.

The Saharawi associative actor invited the Algerian PM, and through him, the Algerian government to "end the waste of wealth of the Algerian people to focus on the real challenges that threaten development, peace and security in Algeria, the Maghreb in its vicinity. "

On the other hand, he criticized the African Union wondering, "What credibility it has by not setting any continental problem and continuing to recognize a state not-recognized by the UN?".

Mr. Mahraoui also wondered what meaning this African Union can have without Morocco, a country that in the reign of HM King made of African politics and South-South cooperation one of its major strategic foreign policy. This policy, he concluded, is beginning to bring fruits in the various economic, social, migratory, educational, cultural and religious levels.

The Sahara conflict said "Western" is a regional dispute imposed by Algeria to Morocco that funds and hosts on its territory the Polisario Front in Tindouf. This separatist movement, supported by the Algerian government, claims the creation of a fictitious state in the Maghreb. This blocks all efforts of the international community for economic and security integration in the Maghreb region.
