MEP Alain Hutchinson, Vice-Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries in the European Parliament (EP), denounced on Monday organized leaks for some media of a draft report on the visit to Morocco by the delegation that will be debated Tuesday.

The MEP described the leak as "irresponsible" and "scandalous manipulation". "I am very angry because I think that is a scandalous manipulation and irresponsible act on the part of some members," said Socialist deputy in a statement Monday to the MAP.

"Post a text and presenting it as a final report of the European Parliament is a lack of ethics," he insisted.

Mr. Hutchinson also noted that those who published this document have "somewhere betrayed the trust that the Moroccan authorities have placed in them by giving them every facility for the success of their mission in Morocco."

The MEP said that the draft report will be discussed Tuesday at a meeting in the European parliament and will ask the President of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries in the European Parliament to focus on this subject.

Mr. Hutchinson suggested that the draft report "carried by some members of the supporters of the Polisario thesis" is "extremely biased" and does not reflect the reality on the ground.

"These guys must understand that the stalemate in the current issue of the Sahara has one way out which is regional autonomy proposed by Morocco and those who think that the pseudo SADR will be established and recognized are mistaken, "said the MEP.

Mr. Hutchinson has also reiterated the strong commitment of the European Union to move forward in its cooperation with Morocco "single emerging country from the Maghreb," referring to the proposal made during the visit of the delegation MEPs last January in Morocco to establish a Joint Committee between the European Parliament and the Moroccan Parliament.
