President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid received on Friday, 18 August 2006 in Rabat, at the headquarters of the Council, the Ambassador of Turkey, in Morocco, Mr. Akin Algan



The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, met August 18 at the Council's headquarters in Rabat, with the Turkish ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Akin Algan. 

During this interview, which was attended by CORCAS Secretary General, Dr Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin, vice presidents Moussaoui Khaddad and Hassanna Cherif and first secretary of the Embassy of Turkey, Mr. Ould Errachid  Khalihenna gave an overview on the various stages in the Sahara issue and the circumstances surrounding the creation of CORCAS by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as its aims and composition.

according to CORCAS chairman, the Moroccan proposal to grant broad autonomy to the southern provinces under Moroccan sovereignty, offers the possibility for Sahrawis "manage their own affairs politically, socially and economically in respect of territorial integrity of the Kingdom, from Tangier to Lagouira.

For his part, Mr. Algan said to the press, following his talks with the President of CORCAS, that "we support an early, viable and acceptable solution to all parties concerned and the efforts of the United Nations to solve this problem which has lasted 30 years. "

The Turkish diplomat has also explained that talks focused on the Moroccan proposal to grant broad autonomy to the southern provinces under Moroccan sovereignty.
