Ambassador of Romania in Morocco, Mr. Vasil Bopovici said on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in Rabat, that autonomy plan in the southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco is a "hope for peace in the region", that would make progress in the Sahara issue.



The Chairman of the Royal Advisory Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, met on 18 October 2006 in Rabat, with the Ambassador of Romania in Morocco, Mr. Vasile Popovici. 

The autonomy project of the southern provinces, proposed by the Kingdom, is "a hope for peace in the region" as it is likely to advance the Sahara issue, said the ambassador of Romania in Morocco Mr. Vasile Popovici, in a statement to the press, following his talks with CORCAS President.

The Romanian diplomat said the interest of his country to the Sahara issue "concerns" also the international community.

He said, in this regard, that the position of his country "that has not wanted to be on one side or the other", remains "certainly favourable to the interests of Morocco."
