The autonomy proposal is the only initiative that is able to solve the Sahara conflict and favor the revival of the Great Maghreb, the participants underlined.
Sidati El-Ghallaoui, a former representative of the Polisario in Italy, said that Morocco’s autonomy project responds to the demands of the Sahrawii people and allows them to manage their own issues.
In turn, Abadilah Semlali, a member of the the Centrist Democrat International shed the light on the plight of the Moroccan Sahrawis sequestrated in the camps of Thindouf, decrying the collective abduction of these populations that was perpetrated by the polisario separatists by the polisario and the Algerian military in the 70's.
This meeting, held on the sidelines of the 10th session of the United Nations Human Rights council (March 2- 27), was marked by several testimonies of former detainees, who recounted their hardships and decried the Human abuses perpetrated in those camps.
