Ross arrived earlier in the day in Rabat, first leg of his tour in the region.
The dinner was attended by speakers of the two chambers of the Moroccan parliament, members of the government, leaders of political parties represented by groups in parliament, the chairman and the secretary-general of the Royal Advisory council for Saharan affairs and other personalities.
Ross's visit, the first in his capacity as personal envoy of the UN chief, will run until February 25. After Rabat, Ross will go to Tindouf and Algiers. He will then travel to Madrid and Paris and return to New York for further consultations at UN Headquarters, according to spokesperson for the UN secretary General, Michèle Montas.
