Morocco's Sahara autonomy proposal "should be taken into account and discussed during negotiations," said Secretary in charge of international policy at the Spanish Socialist Labor Party (PSOE -in power), Elena Valenciano.



 "We believe that the Moroccan government has presented a proposal which should be taken into consideration during negotiations," Valenciano told MAP after meeting with Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, (CORCAS), Khalihenna Ould Errachid.

    "We commend on Morocco for proposing the [Sahara] autonomy plan" which constitutes a "roadmap". “The Spanish government and PSOE will continue to "keep in touch with all the parties with a view to contributing to a solution that satisfies everyone."

    "We need to bring closer all the parties. The Spanish stance is clear in that regard and we want to contribute to making an agreement possible," she said.

    The Spanish MP also met with Secretary General if the Istiqlal party (PI- in power), Abbas El Fassi.

    Talks focused on a number of issues, notably relations between the two political parties, Morocco's major reforms in various fields, the Sahara issue, and trade exchanges.

    During the meeting, the Spanish MP said that Spain will host the first EU-Morocco summit following the start of its rotating presidency of the EU.
   Valenciano also met with the Secretary General of the Foreign ministry, Youssef Amrani.
