The Moroccan people commemorate on November 20 -23 November, the 52-th anniversary of the start of Liberation Army operations in southern Kingdom, which was a radiant page in the epic of the completion of independence and territorial integrity.

The people of Morocco and the people of this region whose contribution to the national struggle has been most significant, can be proud of this anniversary which revives memories of glorious twists that give the full measure of their commitment to Alaouite Throne and national unity.

This anniversary is an opportunity to remember the sacrifices made by the Moroccan people and the throne to defeat attempts to divide the kingdom, recover the full sovereignty of the nation and defend the foundations of national identity.

In this liberating work, the importance of mobilizing resistants in southern provinces should be emphasized, as it was an expression of the will of national emancipation, and a vivid demonstration of dedication and patriotism of Moroccan people in front of colonialism.

Thus, nationalists belonging to the Saharan tribes led heroic fighting in various parts of the region of Sakia Lhamra and Oued Eddahab, securing victory, particularly in the battles of Dchir, Lblaya, Lemssid and Erghioua.

Further north, Ait Baâmrane tribes attacked bravely 16 Spanish centers causing significant material and human losses and forcing them to retreat to the town of Sidi Ifni.

These deeds were recorded during fighting, especially in Tabloukt, Bizri, Boursas, TIGHZA, Bijarfan, Sidi Mohamed Ben Daoud, Alalan Tamoucha and Sidi Ifni.

Concomitantly, Morocco was leading a political struggle for complete national unity and deploying intensive diplomatic action at international forums. Indeed, the late King Mohammed V had ceased to claim the right of Morocco to liberate the Sahara, including in his famous speech on 25 February 1958 to Al M'Hamid Ghizlane where he was welcomed by delegations and Representatives of Sahrawi tribes that poured in from everywhere to renew their allegiance (Beia) to the Supreme and reaffirm their commitment to defend the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

These efforts were crowned, first, by the recovry in 1958 and the city of Sidi Ifni on June 30 in 1969, then by the organization on  November 6, 1975, of the glorious Green March which gave a masterly demonstration to the world of the deep unity aspirations of the Moroccan people and their mobilization behind His Majesty Hassan II, to complete the territorial unity of the Kingdom.

The recovery of Oued Eddahab on 14 August 1979 reflects, in turn, the unwavering anchor of Sahrawi tribes in the basement of identity and unity.

Today, Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, maintains its momentum to defend its territorial integrity, while reaffirming to the world its determination to work for the treatment of all aspects of an artificial conflict and strengthen cooperation in the Maghreb region to realize the expectations of its peoples.

The Moroccan initiative to grant enlarged  autonomy to the southern provinces comes within this line and emanates from the Sovereign who mentioned in his throne speech of 30 July 2008, the positive turning point of our national cause.

"The efforts deployed by our diplomacy boldly offensive have resulted in a positive and substantial development. This is evidenced by the recognition by the United Nations of the seriousness and credibility of our courageous Autonomy Initiative, and the unrealistic and illusory nature of separatism. Meanwhile, we have noticed a growing international support for the sovereignty of the Kingdom on the Sahara, "said the King.

"Just as firmly, we affirm the rejection by Morocco of any attempt to impose a fait accompli or harm its territorial integrity," said His Majesty the King.

The celebration of 52-th anniversary of the Liberation Army operations in the South is an ideal opportunity to perpetuate the noble values of patriotism and their profound meanings for present and future generations.
