Visiting President of the Andean Parliament (Parlandino), Ivonne Juez De Baki expressed, here Friday, support for the Moroccan initiative to negotiate an autonomy status in the Sahara region.



 "The Moroccan initiative is a solution to the Sahara conflict," she told the press following talks with the Moroccan Secretary of State, Ahmed Lakhrif.

    The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the issue of Morocco's territorial integrity in the light of the recent positive developments that have occurred in this regional dispute, especially within the 4th Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, the Moroccan official underlined. 

    He recalled in that respect that king Mohammed VI reaffirmed on Thursday in an address to the nation on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Green March, Morocco's flawless commitment "to engage in serious negotiations about autonomy as a final solution to the Sahara, for peace and stability in the region."
 
    Talks between the two officials touched on means to strengthen co-operation ties with the Parlandino member-countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador et Peru) at the political, economic and commercial levels, Lakhrif said.
     Juez De Baki, who is currently on a working visit to Morocco, also had discussions with the chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Khalihenna Ould Errachid on the Sahara issue, Moroccan TV Channel "Al Oula" reported in its evening news.

    Earlier, the Ecuadorian MP met the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Upper house), Mustapha Mansouri, with whom she discussed ways to bolster co-operation between the Moroccan Parliament and the Parlandino, through the creation of parliamentary friendship groups.
