 The Paraguayan writer and historian Luis Aguero Wagner affirmed, Wednesday evening in Buenos Aires, that it was time for Algeria to return to the right path and put an end to a conflict that it itself created in the only purpose of prejudicing the territorial integrity of Morocco.
Aguero Wagner, who presented at the "House of Paraguay" in the Argentine capital his book entitled "The Moroccan Sahara beyond Western Sahara" in the presence of Argentine and Paraguayan writers and journalists, as well as intellectuals, academics and diplomats, underlined that "Algeria is haunted by the obsession to obtain an outlet on the Atlantic Ocean and thus extend its hegemony over the region by creating a puppet entity, which does not fulfill any conditions of a State, in accordance with international law”.
Despite the outstretched hand of the Kingdom, noted the Paraguayan historian, Algeria wants to continue to manipulate this puppet entity in order to perpetuate the doctrine of hostility towards Morocco and its territorial integrity.
This history professor at the Institute of the Paraguayan Air Force in Asuncion added that "the time has come for Algeria to open its eyes to what is happening in the world which now rejects separatism, this other face of terrorism, and to listen to the voices of wisdom throughout the world, voices that are convinced that Morocco is within its rights and that this artificial conflict has caused the peoples of the region to miss half a century of growth and prosperity because of the intransigence of Algeria and its stubbornness with regard to an issue that Morocco has definitively settled after the completion of its territorial integrity".
Author of numerous works and former editor-in-chief of the weeklies "La Republica" and "El Pueblo", Aguero Wagner underlined in this context the successive recognitions of the Moroccanness of the Sahara by the major world powers, led by the United States , as well as the opening of consulates by many countries both in the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla, in addition to the recent Israeli decision to recognize Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara, adding that this dynamic augurs the imminent end of the separatist militias of the Polisario, and consequently the end of the suffering of the sequestered population in Tindouf.
The Paraguayan researcher and journalist, expert in international geopolitical issues and political history, did not fail to confirm, before an audience which followed his speech with great interest, that Spain's support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco was a decisive turning point in this issue and aroused the interest of Latin American countries, especially since the Moroccan Sahara was a former colony of Spain, which knows better than anyone the reality of this regional dispute.
Reviewing the most important axes addressed in his book on the Sahara, the Paraguayan writer underlined that the "artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara would never have existed without Algeria, which spends lavishly, finances, shelters and supports separatist militias against its neighbor Morocco", wondering whether these resources would not have been better used to build infrastructure and improve the living conditions of its population?
In a statement to MAP, Aguero Wagner said that the presentation of the book at the "House of Paraguay" in Buenos Aires, which is a renowned cultural center, carries many messages and reflects the quality of the relations that unite the three countries: Morocco, Paraguay and Argentina.
"I would like to appeal here to Algeria to raise its hand on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara and stop sponsoring and financing Polisario terrorists, in order to perpetuate this conflict", added the Paraguayan historian, noting that his book is addressed to public opinion in Latin America to clarify the situation of an artificial conflict that dates from the Cold War.
In the eyes of the Paraguayan expert, "there is no other solution in sight apart from the autonomy initiative which enjoys the support of the majority of countries in the world, while separatists and their sponsor are in increasing decline.
Aguero added that the book lays bare the allegations promoted by the separatist propaganda of Polisario and proves that the Moroccan Sahara has always been an integral part of the Kingdom, by virtue of the historical ties of allegiance that united the Sahrawi tribes and the sultans and the kings of Morocco through the ages.
After Buenos Aires, the Paraguayan writer intends to present his book in the coming weeks in Santiago (Chile), Montevideo (Uruguay), La Paz (Bolivia) and Lima (Peru).
He emphasizes that he seeks through this documentary work, prepared after his visit to Morocco and the southern provinces, highlight the relevance of the autonomy proposal as the only viable solution, and which the international community has unanimously qualified of "serious and credible".
In a speech on this occasion, Morocco's Ambassador to Argentina, Fares Yassir, stressed that Morocco has remarkably strengthened its presence in Latin America and maintains strong relations with many countries on the continent, which are constantly consolidate in many economic, cultural and political fields, adding that the countries of the continent consider the Kingdom as a strategic partner and the best gateway to the Arab and African worlds.
Concerning the book by Aguero Wagner, the Moroccan diplomat noted that this kind of academic initiatives, which highlight the reality of the artificial dispute around the Moroccan Sahara, allow Latin American public opinion to distinguish realities from illusions , emphasizing that the Moroccanness of the Sahara is an indisputable fact by virtue of history and geography, and that Polisario separatists, who are involved in terrorism, are on the way to disappearance after the truth has come to light before the international community.
At the end of the presentation of the book "The Moroccan Sahara beyond Western Sahara", the audience interacted with the Paraguayan writer through many questions about Morocco and its people, noting that the Kingdom, which was able to stretching bridges between the two shores of the Atlantic, is the country emotionally closest to the countries of Latin America.
