“I welcome the recognition by Israel of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. The sovereignty of Morocco is indisputable,” reacted Eric Ciotti in a tweet.
The head of the Republicans (right) called for this purpose France to “resolve this strategic issue”.
A statement from the Royal Cabinet announced on Monday that King Mohammed VI received a letter from the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benyamin Netanyahu, in which he brought to the Sovereign’s Very High Attention the decision of his country to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
In this regard, the Israeli Prime Minister indicated that this position of his country will be “reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government”. He further stressed that the said decision will be “transmitted to the United Nations, regional and international organizations of which Israel is a member, as well as to all countries with which Israel maintains diplomatic relations”.
In his letter to the Sovereign, the Israeli Prime Minister informed that Israel is examining positively “the opening of a Consulate in the city of Dakhla”, and this within the framework of the concretization of this decision of State”.
