The Algerian journalist writer, Mr. Anwar Malek has estimated that the creation of "a new entity in the Maghreb region would expose it to the emergence of countless other entities", adding that the Sahara issue "is a first step towards the erosion of the Maghreb region known for unity and cohesion between its peoples, who were behind liberation from the yoke of the occupants. "

" Polisario leaders are mere agents of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and have no independence in making decisions as they claim," said Malek in an interview with the weekly "Al Michâal", published Thursday.

He continued: "Just remember what's happening in the Tindouf camps, in terms of oppression, torture and serious violations perpetrated against Sahrawis and their honour, with official complicity between Algeria and Polisario."

"Algeria is committing serious violations and crimes via Polisario, and it is Sahrawis who pay a high price," he noted.

He asserted that Polisario leaders "squander resources and wealth of Saharans. We have seen how they live abroad on behalf of powerless people whose fate has led them in this area."
