In a statement to the first TV channel first after his appointment as Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs on Saturday, March 25, 2006 that this appointment by His Majesty the King is a honour serving the national cause which enters a new and final stage of this conflict which is a conflict between Saharawis and Moroccan administration.

This appointment is not only an honor for the president, but also for the Secretary General all the Council’s members and all the Saharan tribes since they will become active participants in relation to state policy-making to solve the Sahara conflict. The Council will participate in putting an end to the conflict and develop self-government that will make this the problem resolved within the framework of consultation and consent by Sahrawis wherever they are, whether in Spain or in Tindouf. This is what we was claiming: Saharans position should be secured and documented within the Moroccan State

Full text of the declaration:

''For me personally, this is an honor to serve His Majesty the King and the serve the national cause in order to find a final solution, God willing, with respect to this artificial dispute. It is not a personal pleasure, but pleasure to the Secretary-General, as well as to the rest of the members who will be in the Council and who will represent all actors of old and new generation at the level of all tribes all ages and all levels.

This is an honor for us to become active participants in the design of the state’s  political, economic and social decisions in this region and contribute as we did in the past in the ultimate solution to this issue to turn the page of the problem, which is based on family disputes between Sahara people and Moroccan administration.

Today, his Majesty the King made a historic reconciliation. His Majesty’s speech shapes all future features to the Sahara issue with respect to the current stage which is the stage of the Royal Advisory Council for Sahara Affairs, which will focus on internal issues as well as external issues to defend the national cause as well as contribute to the development of the final solution: autonomy within Moroccan sovereignty. The Sahara will be resolved by consent of the State, represented by His Majesty the King and the Moroccan people represented by political parties in the framework of consultation with Saharans wherever they are not only Saharans in Laayoune ,  Smara or Dakhla, but also Saharans in Tindouf , Spain and in Mauritania. This issue is important because it definitively establishes what we demanded, ie Saharan status must be guaranteed defined and documented within the State of Morocco. ''

In a response to Mustafa El Alaoui question about the letter of his Majesty, Mr Ould Errachid said:
